Sakananet, la fibra òptica mancomunada arriba a Sakana (Nafarroa)

This Wednesday, November 3rd, the presentation of the fiber optic network Sakananet. The project, managed collectively, will offer Internet access services to the municipalities of Sakana through the participatory, multi-operator network with coverage throughout the municipalities involved (Arakil, Arbizu, Arruazu, Etxarri-Aranatz, Irañeta, Irurtzun, Lakuntza, and Uharte-Arakil).

Sakananet is the name adopted by this initiative promoted and driven by the Sakana Consortium, the Sakana Development Agency, citizens, and the Guifi·net Foundation, following the Guifinet model and advocating for:

  • Bringing quality Internet to citizens through a more sustainable, quality network at fair prices with local operators.

  • Network management in a cooperative format by all actors who invest in it and use it, including citizens.

  • Offering an open, free, and neutral shared network with various local operators (Abaila, Evel, Sisnet, and Sona) to avoid monopoly, thus promoting the local economy.

The event was attended by Oihana Olaberria, Mayor of Arakil, Gorka Ovejero, Mayor of Arruazu, Silvia Marañon, Mayor of Etxarri Aranatz, Txomin Uharte, Mayor of Uharte Arakil, Iker Manterola, Head of the Sakana Development Agency, David Oroz, Mayor of Urdiain and President of the Sakana Consortium, Miguel Ángel Irigoyen and Núria Coromina, members of the Guifi·net Foundation.
