Hola, Ollarango i Oltza Zendeako!

The community fiber optic network reaches Ollarango and Oltza Zendeako

Residents of the councils that are part of the municipalities of Ollarango and Oltza Zendeako (Navarre) can now connect to the Internet via fiber optic through four local operators of the joint network.

The deployment of the joint fiber network, an initiative promoted and funded by the City Council of Vall d'Ollo, the City Council of Cendea d'Olza, the citizens, and the Guifi·net Foundation, already provides Internet access through four operators: ABAILA, EVEL,
SISNET and WIKAI.
Thus, all houses, businesses, entities, and individuals who wish to do so can now connect by contacting these four operators. They can also check their services and rates and choose the ones that best suit their needs.
In addition, residents who connect to Ollo-Olza have the opportunity to save on their monthly Internet fee by making a contribution to the project.
After several months of planning and deployment work, the goal of providing an Internet connection through a participatory network model, with total coverage in the municipalities and multiple operators, is already a reality in the different populations of the municipalities of Vall d'Ollo (Anotz, Eguillor-Beasoain, Iltzarbe, Ollo, Saldise, Senosiain, and Ultzurrun) and the Cendea d'Olza (Arazuri, Artazcoz, Asiain, Ibero, Izcue, Izu, and Olza). Waiting to be able to rethink and connect Arteta (Vall d'Ollo), Lizasoain, and Orobia (Cendea d'Olza).
In recent weeks, the network has been

in the testing phase and currently has its first users. In addition, residents who help promote project growth and co-financing have already begun to make contributions in these first weeks.

A new model, a joint management of an optical fiber network that advocates for:

  • Bringing quality Internet to the public through a more sustainable, quality network, at affordable prices, and with local operators.

  • A well-functioning infrastructure management by all contributing and using parties, including the public.

  • An open, free, and neutral network used by different operators. This way, more services are offered, monopoly is avoided, and the local economy is promoted. Furthermore, it is more sustainable as there is no duplication of infrastructure.

The construction and management of this network model are possible thanks to the collaboration and contributions of various driving agents, including the public. Thus, residents who connect to Ollo-Olza have the opportunity to voluntarily promote project growth and reduce their monthly fee, for life, under the concept of "line fee" by making a contribution to the project.

Participants who wish to do so will have to make a contribution via the web of 1,200€ (average cost of fiber reaching a home) to the Guifi·net Foundation. With this contribution, the user:

Cover its infrastructure and help extend the network.

You will not have to pay more for this "line fee" concept to the chosen operator.

You can enjoy a monthly discount on the contracted operator's bill.
You can reduce 17€ monthly on the bill and therefore save 204€ annually.

*The contribution of 1,200€ can be made in a single payment, in two payments of 600€ each, or up to three payments of 400€ each. If the contribution is not made, the user will simply contract the services with any of the involved operators but will not be able to opt for the 17€ discount on the monthly fee or obtain the tax deduction.
