The VII edition of the FESC, organized by the Network of Solidarity Economy of Catalonia, took place at the Fabra i Coats de Barcelona Venue during this weekend with a great attendance success, more than 11,000 people visited the FESC from Friday to Sunday, despite the weather conditions and in which we participated together with more than 200 participating organizations, presenting alternative proposals and initiatives to the capitalist economic model and participating in about eighty talks and cultural activities with the aim of improving people's lives.

We had the opportunity to talk to many people who approached the Foundation interested in knowing the project and obtaining information on how to connect and hire Internet and telephony access services, also people who already have contracted services with operators participating in the guifi.net project who have expressed their high level of satisfaction and even people who in the fifteen years of existence of the guifi.net project have participated in some way in it.

We also had information about the #enstoquenlafibra project and we have participated in different talks like 'How can technological sovereignty be built in municipalities and communities?'

Some interesting facts:

  • Colombia, Germany, and Morocco were some of the countries present

  • this edition has increased the FESC area by 25% compared to previous editions

  • social currencies were the only form of payment, with almost 27,000 ecosols circulating

  • almost 100 volunteer people

  • presence on social networks, 2,785 tweets with the hashtag #fesc2018 and impact on more than 350,000 people

Guifi.net denounced to Europe the non-application of the Telecommunications and Competition regulations.
The guifi.net Foundation presents a complaint to the European Ombudsman to urge the European Commission to act against the malpractice os Spanish administrations and ensure compliance with the European regulations on Telecommunications and Competition.
