During the global pandemic situation generated by Covid-19, different initiatives and projects have emerged throughout the territory to address shortages or needs in different areas.
This is the case of COVIDWarriors, a non-profit association formed by volunteers, patrons, and professionals from different fields who have joined forces in the fight against Covid-19.
1. To add volunteers from different fields, proactive organizations, entrepreneurial talent, technological initiatives, and financial resources in the fight against Covid-19.
2. To identify specific needs detected at logistic, health, social, psychological levels, etc.
3. To accelerate own or existing initiatives that, with technology and the power of multidisciplinary expert teams, amplify the impact against the coronavirus.
At the beginning of June, as a result of various collaborations between telecommunications professionals, the educational and social sectors, healthcare, and innovation, volunteers from COVIDWarriors gave rise to the project #ConectemosYA and received support from guifi.net.
The project #ConectemosYA aims to provide informative tools to help reduce the digital divide, ensure connectivity, efficient distribution of devices, and their reuse. Ultimately, it highlights that, with the pandemic situation, the universal right to access the Internet regardless of where you live and your social and economic situation has become even more evident.
For this purpose, a document called "Connectivity Recipe Book" has been prepared, where you can find information, guidance, solutions, and tools to facilitate universal, fast, sustainable Internet access in collaboration with various administrations and entities.
With what objectives?
To make the universal right to access the Internet effective.
To provide tools and information to society regarding the technological and digital field.
To eliminate the digital divide between urban and rural areas.
