An annual contribution of 15,000 euros and its location at the Technological Park of TecnoCampus, with the joint objective of combating the digital divide.
The councilor of Smart City, and Strategy and Urban Agenda Mataró 2030, Daniel Hurtado; the president of TecnoCampus Park, Josep Lluís Checa; and the president of the Guifi.net Foundation, Ramon Roca, have signed an agreement to develop the 'Mataró Sense Fils' project. The aim is to create an open, free and neutral telecommunications network that all citizens can access under the same conditions.
According to the agreement, the City Council makes an annual financial contribution of 15,000 euros to acquire equipment that will facilitate and improve the extension of connectivity. It will also provide spaces in some municipal facilities that will allow the extension of new access points to the 'Mataró Sense Fils' citizen network. The facilities are the Rocafonda Civic Center, the Cerdanyola Civic Center, and the Tres Roques building. It will collaborate in identifying connectivity needs through the data available in municipal services.
On the other hand, TecnoCampus Park has provided the Guifi.net Foundation with a space on advantageous economic terms to develop the 'Mataró Sense Fils' project and at the same time its integration into the TecnoCampus community to enjoy social and business relationships that arise there, as well as relationships with university centers and research groups.
The Guifi.net Foundation will deploy and facilitate the installation of its network in the municipality of Mataró in coordination with municipal technical services.
This action is part of the Smart City Plan of Mataró, which is part of the Mataró Urban Agenda 2030 strategy.
